BACULOVIRUS SYSTEM

Oxford Expression Technologies are acknowledged leaders in the baculovirus system for protein expression, including recombinant gene expression, protein expression, amplification, scale-up, purification and gene cloning. We also offer training and consultancy in the baculovirus system, gene cloning, cell culture, molecular biology and baculovirus system related themes.

Oxford Expression Technologies was founded by leading members of the School of Biological and Molecular Science at Oxford Brookes University and of NERC CEH Oxford in 2000 to provide researchers with custom proteins for research purposes. We specialise in the use of the baculovirus recombinant protein expression vector system (BEVS), a eukaryotic expression system that can express a large variety of recombinant proteins. Depending upon the level of expression obtained for a particular protein, quantities ranging from hundreds of micrograms to tens of milligrams can be readily produced using resources at the facility.

flashBAC is a new single-step platform technology that offer rapid speed up and reduced costs for the baculovirus system, suitable for high volume and robot handling systems. We are acknowledged leaders in baculovirus system services, gene cloning, cell culture and molecular biology using the standard baculovirus system and also the new flashBAC system.

Oxford Expression Technologies is a world-renowned centre of excellence for custom protein expression using the baculovirus system. We provide baculovirus system products, services and consultancy to many global pharmaceutical companies and are now marketing commercial products based upon our world-beating flashBAC technology.

OET was founded in 2000 by leading members of the School of Biological and Molecular Science at Oxford Brookes University and of NERC CEH Oxford. Our mission is to exploit innovative developments in the baculovirus system that have established the two institutes at the forefront of this technology.

OET also offers a custom baculovirus expression service to academic institutions, pharmaceutical companies and the biotech industry. In addition, regular training courses are run on baculovirus recombinant protein expression technologies.
