An exciting opportunity to join the staff of a well-established biotech company with a global reputation for the production of proteins, including for vaccine and therapeutic purposes, in insect cells

The role:

We seek applicants for a new Higher Scientific Officer (HSO) position. The role will be primarily focused on supporting Contract Service Projects, including the production of recombinant viruses, plasmid preparations, protein production in insect and mammalian cells, protein purification, and analysis. This is an initial three-year contract with the possibility of a permanent position, with the final salary scale point dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

Qualifications required:

Minimum BSc in Biological Sciences and relevant PhD.

Experience and skills required:

Higher Scientific Officer: It is essential that you have experience with molecular biology, cell culture and related protein analysis techniques, preferably with knowledge of protein purification. We can provide training in the baculovirus/insect system. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, who is proactive and works well in a small team, and who, in time, can progress to working independently in this role and take a lead in running individual projects or defined areas of larger projects.

Salary and other conditions:

HSO: From £36,519.94 depending on experience and qualifications.
