EXPERTS IN INSECT, MAMMALIAN AND BACTERIAL EXPRESSION

Insect Cells
All OET insect cells are ideal for use with both the flashBAC™ expression system and our other range of baculovirus products. Standard Sf9 cells are best suited for large scale virus amplification and protein synthesis, whilst Sf21 cells are recommended for titre based plaque assay and observation of virus cytopathic effects. In addition to this, the Super Sf9 cell line is engineered for enhanced gene expression of more challenging proteins, including those with unstable or toxic characteristics. OET also provides our own SfC1B5 cells that provide an excellent rhabdovirus-free cell line that can be licensed for vaccine development.

Product Comparison Guide
Sf21: These provide a suitable host for transient or stable expression of recombinant proteins using baculovirus expression vectors, propagation of baculovirus stocks and plaque assays to accurately determine AcMNPV virus titre.
Sf9: The reliable industry-standard insect cell for recombinant virus generation, routine baculovirus expression and protein production.
SuperSf9 (1-3): Our premium productivity platform designed for researchers targeting increased protein yields and superior expression results. SuperSf9 cells are genetically modified to express a stabilising protein and have increased longevity after virus infection, resulting in up to a 15-fold increase in protein yield compared to unmodified Sf9 cells
SfC1B5: These cells can be used as a direct replacement for Sf9 cells in applications including making recombinant viruses, virus amplification and protein production. SfC1B5 cells are free from the insect rhabdovirus making it ideal for facilitating vaccine development
