pOET.lacZ (10ug) is a baculovirus reporter transfer plasmid designed for high level expression of β-galactosidase (lacZ) under the powerful AcMNPV polyhedrin (polh) promoter. The plasmid can be used as a control in co-transfection to confirm successful homologous recombination and virus amplification. The lacZ gene encodes β-galactosidase, an enzyme that hydrolyzes chromogenic substrates such as X-gal, resulting in the formation of a blue product when enzymatically active.
